While International Yoga Day is technically tomorrow, June 21st, yesterday Chris and I were lucky enough to be in London to take part in the U.N. International Yoga Day celebration! The event featured yoga all day from 8-5 pm and was amazingly put together for a free event.
There were 4 stages with yoga classes going on all day so we had our options open for what classes to attend! Our favorite classes was the Himalayan Hatha Yoga class with Yogi Ashokananda, the Acroyoga class with Sylvia Garcia & Katie Burn, and the Azulfit yoga with Valentina Parmigiani. I will put the full line up at the bottom of this post so you can see the full offerings. We also took a really cool heart opening Thai massage workshop with the London Institute of Thai Yoga Massage which was surprisingly awesome since neither of us had much knowledge of Thai massage previously. It is a bit of guided yoga mixed with using body weight pressure. We also stopped by the walking meditation labyrinth. Traditionally, labyrinths are ancient human symbols for the journey of spiritual awakening.
While I haven’t yet had the opportunity to attend a Wanderlust yoga festival I envision this was like a mini preview. Lots of great yoga teachers, vegan and vegetarian food trucks, and awesome fellow yogis! We had such a great time, highly recommended if you’re in London for IYD next year. Alexandria Palace Park was also very nice and reminded us a lot of Central Park with great views of London, an ice skating rink and ponds with row boats. We even got a little lost on the way and found ourselves in the Sunday Farmers Market on the other side of the park. All in all it was another great day in the city and I am happily sore from all our yoga 🙂
