Venice Beach, LA Must Sees

My favorite part of LA – Venice Beach. Between the boardwalk and Abbot Kinney, there’s always something crazy and cool to see here, which makes it the perfect place to take friends who are visiting CA. Chris and I ended our roadtrip the other week with one night in Venice and had an amazing time (especially since we planned it the night before). I wanted to share what we did and where we went!

Where to stay

We found the coolest Airbnb. These people basically run their own hostel out of this sweet house right off of Abbot Kinney. We got lucked out and got the detached tree house room. but in the main house there was people from Sweden, the UK, France and Australia! They also had a bunch of bikes for everyone to use. Definitely would recommend staying with them!

What to do

So of course you have to take a walk down the infamous board walk to people watch at Muscle Beach and the skate park. We also road our bikes through the Venice Canals, which are obviously modeled off of the real canals of Venice, Italy.  You definitely have to check out some of the shops on Abbot Kinney. Some of my favorites are Toms flagship store with a coffee bar and awesome patio, Alternative Apparel, the matcha bar and Venice Vintage Paradise. There was also a really cute wine bar Zinqué I would have loved to check out if we had one more night.

If you can, I would time your visit to go to First Friday on Abbot Kinney. We happened to be there that night and lucked into a ton of food trucks and all the shops are open later. It was a little crowded but fun for sure. The next day after grabbing breakfast from another food truck on Abbot Kinney  we happened upon another festival, the Artists & Fleas vintage market. I told you, we happened to be in Venice right at the right weekend just by chance!

We also got to go to a class at Love Yoga studio which I’ve been wanting to check out. Just a 10 minute walk from Abbot Kinney on Lincoln. When we got out there was a street taco stand set up (pretty sure they’re there every night but not positive) which was like a sign from heaven. We also went to Baby Blues BBQ on Lincoln which is highly recommend. You must get the mac & cheese and creamed spinach 🙂

So yes, if you’re like wow all they did was eat and shop – you’re basically right! It was awesome. If you missed our other parts from this road trip find the Sequoia, Yosemite, and Hollywood posts here.
